Zinks Donate Uniform to KNHS

Gary ('67) & Kathy (Clayton, '69) Zink attended a family reunion in 2004 and ended up bringing home more than leftover potato salad. An extended family member brought, as an item of memorabilia, a basketball uniform that belonged to Gary's grandmother, Grace Busby-Zink.(1908-1978). Now Gary and Kathy have donated the uniform to Knob Noster High School.

Grace Busby-Zink graduated from Knob Noster High School in 1925. She played basketball during her high school years and one of her favorite memories was when they won the Johnson County Girls Championship in 1924. Their games were generally played outside and the school, at that time, consisted of only four rooms. Grace loved sports and all of her sons, Richard, Ted, Jamie, and Charlie played basketball. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and now her great-great-grandchildren have carried on that tradition.

Katie Murphy

Katie Murphy, daughter of Tim and Shannon (Zink, '86) Murphy, models the vintage 1925 KNHS basketball uniform that belonged to her great-great-grandmother Grace Busby-Zink.

Katie is currently a student at KNHS. The uniform is on display at the high school.
