Are You a Brat?
Because so many KNHS alumni are the children of military parents we have long provided a link to the movie “Brats: Our Journey Home.”   So we wanted to share the following information we received from their newsletter.

“Dear Fellow BRATS and TCKs,

Greetings from the non-profit organization Brats Without Borders!   As you know, our mission is to create films and literary materials for current and former military children and other third culture kids (TCKs) that acknowledge our existence and contributions, improve the quality of our lives, and foster the self-awareness and sense of belonging necessary to employ the more positive aspects of our unique multi-culture inheritance.  To find out more, go to www.bratsfilm.com

To that end, we wanted to let you know that the Writer/Director of BRATS: Our Journey Home the first documentary about growing up military will be at the Overseas Brats Gathering at the Hyatt Dulles on Saturday, November 1, 2008 to show the film and hold a special Q&A afterwards.  The screening is free and the film starts at 11:00 a.m.  The Overseas Brats Gathering is a wonderful  4-day reunion of those who grew up a military brat or TCK, and their educators.  If you havent attended one, try it out!  Its like your own hometown.  Folks from all military and overseas schools are invited.  To find out more, go to www.overseasbrats.com.

We are also proud to announce the launch of the new BRATS Support Network & Discussion Forum a forum for brats, by brats, and about brats.  A place to talk about the issues that concern us.  A place to announce BRATS clubs and screenings of the BRATS: Our Journey Home documentary.  A place to feel at home.  To find out more, go to www.bratsourjourneyhome.com/discuss.

Finally, we will be releasing a new DVD this Christmas BRATS RAW:  Kristofferson & Schwarzkopf!  This is the first segment of an interview series featuring the raw, uncut footage from the original documentary.  These two BRAT icons are truly fascinating and speak from their hearts.  Well start accepting pre-orders in November, so keep checking the website for details www.bratsfilm.com.”
